Fruit, vegetable traders meet Union Minister

JAMMU, July 16: MoS in Prime Minister Office (PMO), Dr Jitendra Singh visited Fruit Market Complex in Narwal here and listened to the problems of fruit and vegetable traders.
Rajesh Gupta, President of Jammu Fruit Association (JFA) along with Ramesh Parihar, President of Vegetable Association highlighted their problems before the Minister.
Speaking on this occasion JFA President, Rajesh Gupta demanded that fruit production in the State has grown from 4 lakh metric tons to 27 lakh metric ton and therefore the market is facing acute shortage of accommodation for growers, buyers etc. He also said that process of transfer of shops in the Mandi (market) should be made easy.
Gupta further informed the Minister that after the enforcement of GST on walnuts its growers are facing many problems which needs some solution.
These traders also submitted a memorandum to the Minister containing their demands.
After listening to these traders, the Minister assured to take up the demands with State Government for redressal.
