Fruit plants among 180 Kandi farmers distributed

AKHNOOR, Aug 29: Encouraging farmers specially from Kandi areas of Jammu region, Horticulture department in a big initiative distributed large number of fruit plants among 180 farmers in Khour Sub Division.
SDM Khour, Anil Kumar Thakur, during Aspirational Block Development Programme at Samwan in Khour, where scores of farmers and other households from Samwan, Bardoh, Pallanwalla and adjoining villages had assembled, distributed hundreds of fruit plants among 180 farmers in presence of Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, Ashwani Sharma.
During the event, several BDC members and Sarpanches/Panches of the area were also present. SDM Khour encouraged farmers to develop fruit orchards for raising their income. He underscored the potential of horticulture to not only contribute to the local economy, but also enhance over all quality of life in the area.
CHO, Jammu educated Kandi farmers about the new Government schemes and incentives/ support being provided for developing orchards in their lands. He said this area has great potential of fruit plants. SMS Sandeep Gupta and HDO Khour also briefed the farmers on the occasion.
