Fruit Growers apprise Director Horticulture of their problems

SRINAGAR, Sept 23: Director Horticulture Marketing and Planning , Kashmir Imamu-ud-Din today visited Zazna Fruit Mandi, Ganderbal and interacted with the fruit growers of Butwani, Ganderbal and other areas today who apprised him of various problems being faced by the fruit growers.
The fruit growers led by Mir Ghulam Rasool of Peoples Revolutionary Society (PRS), Butwani demanded black topping of Fruit Mandi Zazna, providing of bath room facilities and electrification of the Mandi as the people are facing problems there.
They demanded that the transporters rates be fixed as they charge the same as per their sweet will and no transport company with out registration be allowed to work in the Fruit Mandi as they can’t give any guarantee to the growers whose fruit they are transporting out side J&K.
They also demanded cold storage arrangements in the Mandi, the other Mandis outside Delhi be explored for transportation of fruit, the agent system be eliminated, the growers be given proper rates, ensure supply of quality pesticides and growers should be given subsidy on pesticides and fungicides and fruit industry be saved which back bone of J&K economy.
