Fresh snowfall, blizzard, rain cripple life in HP

SHIMLA, Mar 7:
Fresh spell of snowfall, blizzard, rain and windstorm crippled normal life in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.
Vehicular traffic, power and communication services were affected by the inclement weather in many places in the state.
All places near Shimla recorded incessant rainfall, plummeting the Mercury below subzero.
In Takoon Gram Panchayat of Kumersen, power supply was snapped by snowfall and windstorm.
Tourist resort Kufri, Narkanda, Fagu, Shimla were recording snowfall since last night, bringing down the mercury below subzero. Kufri and Narkanda recorded seven to eight cm snowfall.
Shimla SP Om Pati Jamwal said that Hindustan Tibet National Highway was closed at Kufri-Fagu, Narkanda and vehicles were not plying on the highway since early this morning.
Similarly, Kharapather and Khirki recorded 10 to 15 cm snowfall, blocking all roads leading to Jubbal, Kotkhai, Chopal and Rohru in the district.
This capital town had rain, windstorm and frequent spell of snowfall since last night. Jakhu peak wore a blanket of snow in the town.
Meteorological Office recorded 23 cm snowfall at Khadrala in Shimla district till 0830 hrs, Kufri 15 cm, Dalhousie ten cm, Chail in Solan six cm, Shimla five cm, Gondla in Lahaul Spiti four cm and Kalpa 3.4 cm.
Sangrah in Sirmaur recorded 72 mm rainfall, Jatton Barrage 60 mm,Nahan 47.6 mm and Rajgarh 36.7 mm, Solan 50 mm, Kasauli 45 mm, Gohar in Mandi 25 mm, Una 26 mm, Naina Devi in Bilaspur 24.6 mm, Dharmshala 23.6 mm, Poantashahib 22 mm, Kangra 18 mm, Shimla 18.6 mm, Palampur 13 mm, Jubberhati in Shimla12.6 mm, Chail and Hamirpur 10 mm.
Manali recorded nine mm rainfall, Bilaspur and Mandi eight mm, Chamba Seven mm and Seobagh six mm. Report of rainfall is also coming from many places. Keylong in Lahaul Spiti recorded minus 3.8 degrees Celsius temperature, Kalpa minus 1.5 degrees Celsius, Kufri minus 2.9 degrees Celsius , Dalhousie 0.1 degrees Celsius , Manali minus 0.6 degrees Celsius , Shimla 0.6 degrees Celsius and Chail 0.1 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur four degrees Celsius. Solan recorded 5.6 degrees Celsius minimum temperature, Dharmshala 6.8 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 6.9 degrees Celsius, Kangra and Sundernagar in Mandi 8.6 degrees Celsius, Chamba nine degrees Celsius, Mandi 9.5 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur 9.6 degrees Celsius, Una 10.3 degrees Celsius, Bilaspur 10.5 degrees Celsius respectively. The weather office has forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hours in the state. (UNI)
