Freight rates fall on excess position of trucks

NEW DELHI, Apr 25:  Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section declined by Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport market today following excess positions of trucks amid restricted cargo movements.
Transporters said easy availability of trucks in the market as compared to restricted cargo movements mainly pulled down freight rates.
Delhi to Vijaywada, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad rates dropped by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 55,000, Rs 60,000, Rs 62,000 and Rs 51,000, respectively.
Rates to Coimbatore, Goa, Kolkata and Surat fell by Rs 67,000, Rs 47,000, Rs 27,000 and Rs 23,000, respectively.
