JAMMU, Dec 19: Dr Rohit Punga, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, director Zahnarzte- Aesthetic Facial Surgery Clinic and visiting consultant, Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon, conducted a Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) clinic at Jammu.
Till date more than 35 patients who are suffering from Temporo-Mandibular Joint disorders (TMD) have been examined and treated free of cost in this clinic in total of four sessions. Temporo-Mandibular Joint disorder includes pain and dysfunction of the muscles that move the jaw and the joint which connect the jaw to skull.
Most patients complain of pain, followed by restricted mouth opening and noises from the Temporo-Mandibular Joints (TMJ) during jaw movement. The doctors from J&K were demonstrated the clinical technique in diagnosis and management including TMJ arthrocentesis.
The TMJ clinic is a regular feature being conducted every three months. Dr Rohit said that any person who is suffering from TMD can contact Dr Gautam Sharma, ex-president of Indian Dental Association and the patients will be treated free of cost at Jammu.
This time the free TMJ clinic was part of IDA National Conference-2017 to deliver the knowhow of the intrinsic subject with the dentists of J&K who thereby gained knowledge to diagnose these problems in the general population of the State on routine basis and benefit the sufferers of these problems.
Dr RP Abrol was conferred lifetime achievement award while Atul Modi and Namrata Modi of Prevest Denpro company were presented with award of appreciation for manufacturing world class dental products at Jammu.
Tansen Sangeet Mahavidyala, SD Tarapuri School, Amritpal Singh, Dr Rudra Kaul and Dr Himja Mengi presented their cultural performances at the National Dental Conference organized by IDA Jammu.
