Free limbs for amputees, flood sufferers

JAMMU, Sept 28:  Viklang Chhatra Trust, a voluntary organization working statewide for the cause and care of handicapped, infirm and destitute has started the registration of amputees, polio and accident victims for the fitment of artificial limbs and calipers in its next camps to be held at JRC Home for Handicapped, Udheywala, Jammu shortly.
The persons rendered disabled during the recent floods and incessant rains shall also be provided prosthetics aids in the camp being organized in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti Jaipur,  the world’s largest limb fitting  Organization. The experts and technicians of the Samiti will fabricate and manufacture limbs/calipers individually for each beneficiary for on spot fitment.
Satya Pal Saraf, the organizer of the camp said that the Viklang Chhatra Trust,  under its  a statewide programme to provide limbs and prosthetic aids to the amputees and polio victims, has  decided to cater to the prosthetic needs of persons rendered disabled due to injuries or house collapse during the recent unprecedented natural calamity.  Besides, persons who have lost their limbs due to border shelling, landmines blasts, militancy  and  accidents shall be fitted with world famed Jaipur foot.
He disclosed that the Trust has fixed a target for fitment of limbs to 250 beneficiaries for which registration is being done at JRC Home for Handicapped Udheywala Jammu  and VCT Akhnoor.  Lists of beneficiaries are pouring in from various districts of Jammu region. Those who have not been able to get the benefits of artificial limbs in previous camps , can avail the opportunity  during  the  camp days.
