PARIS, Oct 25 : France may deploy its troops to Ukraine in 2026 if necessary to ensure security guarantees, French Army chief Gen. Pierre Schill said.
“We will be ready to deploy forces as part of security guarantees if it becomes necessary to support Ukraine. 2026 will be marked by coalitions,” Schill was quoted by the French BFMTV broadcaster as saying.
On October 22, Chief of the General Staff of the French armed forces Gen. Fabien Mandon said that the country’s military must be prepared for a possible confrontation in three to four years amid an alleged “Russian threat.” The Russian Embassy in France responded by stating that the general’s words revealed “who the real war instigator is.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously explained in detail in an interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson that Russia did not intend to attack NATO countries; there was no point in doing so. The Russian leader noted that Western politicians regularly frightened their populations with an imaginary Russian threat to distract attention from domestic problems, but “smart people understand perfectly well that this is a fake.”
