SRINAGAR: Four personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police were killed in a blast at Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Saturday.
Official sources said that militants triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Sopore, about 55 km from here, where a general strike was observed on Saturday as on this day 57 persons were killed in alleged security force firing in 1993.
Four police personnel were killed, they said adding that the IED was planted beneath a shop. Several shops were also damaged in the blast, sound of which was heard in the entire town.
Security force and police personnel were deployed in the town to maintain law and order. (agencies)
