Four of a family injured in road accident

KATHUA, Aug 9: Four persons of a Ludhiana family were injured one seriously after the car in which they were traveling was hit by a wrong side plying truck at Jammu-Pathankote National Highway at Khorot near District Hospital Kathua today.
They have been identified as Suresh Mahajan, the owner of the car, his wife Vijay Mahajan and two daughters Nishka and Manwi. While Manwi was shifted to a Hospital in Pathankote in a serious condition the other three were shifted to District Hospital Kathua for treatment.
The police said that the truck bearing registration number JK05534 was on its way to Jammu from Punjab but it was coming from wrong side of the Highway resulting into  the head on collision with the car bearing registration number PB 37G 5600 which was on its way from Jammu to Ludhiana, Punjab.
However the truck driver responsible for the accident fled from the spot leaving the vehicle on the Highway. The Kathua Police has registered a case and seized the truck. It has also launched a manhunt for the driver for negligent driving.
