UDHAMPUR, July 6: Power Development Department (PDD) today got cases registered against four consumers under the J&K Electricity Act, 2010.
An official spokesman said that based on the frequent complaints of general public regarding supply of low voltage of electricity in Udhampur town due to electricity theft by some anti-social elements, a team of PDD under the supervision of AEE M&RE conducted surprise inspection in Indira Nagar area and Microwave Lane of Udhampur town and got FIRs lodged in Police Station Udhampur against four for indulging in electricity theft.
He said that during inspection in Indira nagar area, PDD team found one consumer namely Sudesh Kumar, son of Badri Nath, tenant of Bal Krishan, son of Charan Dass of House No. 252 W.No. 2 using electricity illegally, which is an offence under J&K Electricity Act 2010.
Similarly, during inspection in Microwave Lane area, the PDD team found one consumer namely Parma Nand, son of Gouri Sharma having Installation No 577-A (ID No. 4987) using electricity by-passing electronic meter with the help of a changeover switch.
In the same area, another consumer namely Ashok Kumar, son of Prem Nath having Installation No 735-A (ID No. 16249) was using electricity illegally in the newly constructed portion of his house. Another consumer namely Radhe Kumar, son of Ved Parkash, shop keeper tenant of Ravi Kumar, son of Mani Ram was found using electricity illegally.
