Four burglars held in Budgam

Srinagar, Nov 23: Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district have arrested four burglars involved in robbery of goods worth lakhs of rupees during unrest period.
A police spokesman said three persons identified as Umer Reshi, Reyaz Ahmad Dar and Arshid Ahmad Dar and one more suspect identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam were arrested. “During questioning all the accused persons confessed that they were responsible for the burglaries,” he said.
The spokesman said during the last three months, some burglary cases took place in Chadoora tehsil of Budgam where in burglars had stolen property worth lakhs of rupees and in this regard cases under FIR numbers 97/2016,120/2016 and 121/2016 under the relevant sections of law were registered.
In order to ensure a speedy and effective investigation into the matter, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted, the spokesman said, adding that during the course of investigation a number of suspects were rounded-up for questioning and ultimately the police was able to zero in upon these burglars.
The stolen property comprising of three bikes, four LEDs one scanner, one inverter, one sound box, two setup boxes, three ATM batteries, three Laptops, three digital cameras, one video camera, 30 mobile phones etc. worth Rs.10,58000 approximately was recovered. “Further investigation of the cases is in progress,” the police spokesman added.
