JAMMU, Oct 1: Hailing the statement of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that people of the State have greatest stakes in peace for which political leadership of both India and Pakistan must de-escalate situation in the region, PDP leader and former member of State Advisory Board for Gujjars and Bakerwals, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said time has come to implement measures for peace and reconciliation in the State.
The Union Government, Choudhary Hamid said, would be more than willing to talk to anyone including Pakistan on any issue if terrorism is crushed and an amicable way found to all complex issues confronting entire South-East Asia. Knowingly that in the given situation business cannot be as usual, a way has to be found out to dawn peace here.
Though escalation on Indo-Pak border has come as a bolt from blue for local farmers who were preparing to harvest their standing paddy crop as also those living close to the borders, yet Government is doing its best to ensure safety and security of people and their livestock. He hoped that this heightened tensions in the region will be brought down soon.
He said that Late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was all for peace and had facilitated travel and trade between two neighbours only to dawn an everlasting peace in the sub-continent. He said that coalition Government is making all out efforts to come up to the expectations of people of all three regions of the State and trying to give people their due for which Chief Minister’s hands must be strengthened.
