Former MLA, others booked for hurting religious sentiments

JAMMU, Apr 16: Around dozen persons including Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) have been booked for hurting religious sentiments.
As per police sources, Former MLA Gagan Bhagat and around dozen persons burnt a religious book.
A complaint regarding the incident was lodged with Police Station RS Pura by Advocate Deepak Gupta.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 69/2021 under Sections 295 IPC (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) and 295-A IPC (attempts to insult the religion or the religious beliefs) has been registered against Former MLA Gagan Bhagat at Police Station RS Pura.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people gathered outside Police Station RS Pura and demanded strict punishment to Former MLA and others for hurting religious sentiments.
