JAMMU, July 28: As part of Congress party’s initiative ‘Ward Level Contact Programme’, Former Minister and ex-MLA Jammu East Yogesh Sawhney accompanied by Councillor Ritu Choudhary visited Ward Number 1 of Jammu East.
They interacted with the residents and took stock of the problems being faced by them.
The meeting was organized by Congress President of Ward 1 Ram Magotra.
The locals told farmer Minister that they suffer countless problems. Some of the major problems they face include water shortage, irregular power cuts, poor condition of roads and drainage systems among others, the locals said, adding that they had repeatedly raised these issues but no steps have been taken so far for redressal.
While speaking, Sawhney said that the residents of Ward 1 of Jammu East are extremely disappointed with the low level of governance in their area. The infrastructure is not repaired regularly whether it is the roads or the entire drainage system, he added.
Former Minister said that on touring the area, they found that most of the lights are not functioning. The high mast light at the Chogan Slathia Chowk has also been defunct but no one has come to repair them, he added.

The bigger issue is that of water, he said, adding that when the water supply is cut off for more than two to three days, households and businesses are finding it greatly difficult to manage daily chores and work.
Sawhney also appealed to the public to stay strong and support the Congress party in exposing the BJP and their failed promises. He also assured of taking up their issues with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
Councillor of Ward Number 7 Ritu Choudhary assured people of Congress party’s commitment to their cause.
