JAMMU, Dec 27: Director General –Mother The Nature (NGO) S S Bijral who is also the ex IGP today warned that society should not ignore women any more now and give them their due place.
Talking to reporters here, he said the Delhi rape fury is burst of pent up women anger and before they learn to ignore the rest, the society has to take steps for giving them their due.
He said the country-wide fury was witnessed in the shocking Delhi gang rape case and this is the bursting of pent up feelings of women in patriarchal society. There was such anger among the people against the incident that women NCC cadets in Jaipur brandished naked swords while protesting on streets replicating Jhansi Ki Rani. The young men did not leave them alone agitating, he added.
Mr Bijral said this is a silver lining as society has ignored the women –the mother of –generation for long and it should not ignore them any more now, he added.
He said when women were protesting against the gang rape, there were reports in newspapers of many more such cases and atrocities committed upon women folk in different parts of the country. He said these were bold signals on the walls that women constituting 50 percent of population and who have been pushed to the wall, would no more sob behind four walls.
