Forest Guard injured while fighting fire in Banihal

RAMBAN, Feb 18: In a heroic attempt to extinguish a raging fire, Forest Guard Fayaz Ahmed Tantray suffered severe injuries in Chanjloo, Banihal.
The incident occurred on February 17 around 6 pm while Tantray was battling the blaze alongside other field staff in Compartment 47/Bnl Forest Block, Doligam Range, Banihal Division, Ramban.
According to reports, Tantray slipped and rolled down a steep hill, plummeting around 100 feet. He sustained serious head and body injuries in the fall. The Forest Guard was immediately administered first aid at the Government Sub District Hospital in Banihal. Due to the severity of his injuries, Tantray has been referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag for further treatment.
Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department has urged the local community to support their frontline staff in managing the rising menace of forest fires. The Department appealed to the public to report any forest fire immediately.
