Food Safety team tightens noose on violators, challans 10 under FSS Act

JAMMU, Oct 18: Continuing its special drive during Navratras, a Food Safety team inspected various food establishments in city and its outskirts, lifted samples of food products and challaned violators of FSS Act 2006.
During the random inspection, the team headed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Jammu, challaned 10 food establishments under unsanitary and unhygienic conditions and other contraventions of FSS Act 2006.
Amongst the challaned were Raina Sweet Shop, Sain Ji Di Hatti, Mohan Lal Vaishno Dhaba at Pacca Danga, Pankush Hot and Cold at Dogra Hall, Janta Fruit Ice Cream, Thakur Bakery, Gupta Sweet Shop, Chaman Tea Stall, Manas Bakery and Mahajan Sweet Mart at Bantalab Road, Jammu.
The samples of many food items and raw material like Khoya, milk, pheniya, katlamas, vanspati ghee, sabu dana, etc were also lifted from various food establishments including those challaned during the drive.
The food business activities of Raina Sweet Shop, Pacca Danga and Maha Laxmi Bakery were stopped till further order as the infrastructure of their premises were not in a position to carry out the said businesses.
Moreover, the team visited Dusshera Ground at Gandhi Nagar and Prade Ground Jammu and made the food vendors aware about the norms of Food Safety Act 2006. They were asked not to sell any kind of adulterated food to the customers and use brown paper for packaging or selling food items.
The drive was conducted on the directions of Commissioner, Food Safety, J&K. The inspecting team was comprised of Food Safety officers, Ajay Khajuria, Daleep Singh, Hans Raj and Parvaiz Ahmed.
