JAMMU, Mar 3: Food Safety team of Jammu under Commissionerate of Food Safety, J&K, conducted a special drive on the eve of Shivratri festival to check selling of unhygienic and adulterated food in the market and challaned 15 food establishments under FSSA.
A team of Food Safety officers led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Jammu Municipal limits, under the supervision of Commissioner, Food Safety, J&K, inspected various food establishments in Janipur, Bantalab, Muthi, BC Road, Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar and other areas.
During inspection, the team lifted samples of various food products including milk and milk products and sent for analysis to ascertain adulteration if any. The team also challaned more than 15 food establishments for insanitary and unhygenic conditions.
The team comprising food safety officers Ajay Khajuria, Hans Raj, Daleep Singh, Parvaiz Ahmed and Sabha Rasool also conducted an awareness camp at Fruit Mandi. An outreach programme viz door to door campaign for food business operators and food handlers to keep their infrastructure up to the standards and maintain hygienic practices, has also been started by the Food Safety team.
