FoIJ demands extension of Power Amnesty Scheme

JAMMU, May 12: Chairman, Federation of Industries Jammu (FoIJ) Lalit Mahajan draws attention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Principal Secretary, Power Development Department Rohit Kansal towards the Industrial Sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that due to COVID-19 situation from March 2020 till date, number of units have not availed the Power Amnesty Scheme which was valid till 30-11-2020 due to financial crunch.
It is pertinent to mention here that numbers of cases of Industrial Units pending with the Power Development Department had arisen due to power arrears of the Units, which were closed since long with the disconnection of power.
Mahajan added that the Department is still charging the Minimum Demand charges along with the compounded interest from the date of disconnection whereas as per the JKSERC Tariff, only simple interest should be charged resulting dispute between the Department and Unit holders.
On behalf of Industrial Units, Mahajan request Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Principal Secretary, PDD Rohit Kansal to consider request for the extension of Power Amnesty Scheme upto 31-03-2022 which will also help for the recovery of long pending arrears of the PDD. He also requested to notify the Samaadhaan Scheme by PDD for the settlement of old pending cases of Industrial Units.
