Focus on villages

Sir,
It is quite disgusting and disappointing that Indian farmers are committing suicides in a country where agriculture is backbone of economy. We are indebted to the farmer who works hard, day and night, and arranges food for us. But his condition is not good. Our successive Govts, have failed to address the problems of farmers.
He finds all the inputs like seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, machinery, loan, electricity etc costly but when it is his turn to sell the farm produce in the market, either the production is low or prices are  low and he doesn’t get the suitable reward. Our farmer is working hard but the middle man is looting him. This is the real problem of an Indian farmer. Our Govt has no control over our markets. Govt should look into these problems and take necessary actions. We have to develop our villages if we have to do progress and development. In this context, one is tempted to quote Gandhiji. “Bharat ka dil gaun main basta hai, gaun ka vikas karo shahron ka apne aap ho jayega”. This year’s budget focuses on rural areas. Let us hope for the best.
Yours etc…..
