Focus on protecting life of civilians; step up vigil at borders in J&K: Rajnath

SRINAGAR: Asking agencies to primarily focus on protecting the life and property of civilians, besides ensure fool proof security in the State, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said vigil at the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) should be stepped up to frustrate evil designs of the enemy.

Meanwhile, Mr Singh also assured of positive outcomes on issues of opening of more LoC routes for trade and business to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and giving permission to foreigners to visit Ladakh, including Nubra valley.

“You (security agencies) should ensure fool proof security in the state, with primacy being to protecting the life and property of civilians,” Mr Singh said while chaired a high level meeting here this afternoon and took stock of overall security situation in the State and arrangements made for the 48-day-long Amarnath yatra to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.

The Union Home Minister asked the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Army to step up the vigil at the International Border and the LoC, so that the evil designs of the enemy could be frustrated. (AGENCIES)
