Srinagar, Mar 24: Female Multipurpose Public Health Workers (FMPHW) of the Family Welfare Department protested today against the four-month delay in the payment of their salaries.
Health workers from several districts gathered in the Press Enclave, Partap Park, here to protest the authorities’ failure to release monthly salaries on time.
“This is injustice because we are continually working hard for the betterment of society. Our pay has been withheld, and we are being forced to suffer on a daily basis. We worked as frontline workers throughout the epidemic, and instead of being recognized for our efforts, we have been sidelined, “FMPHW, Neelofar said.
They said that they are struggling to run their families as their salaries have been withheld for the last four months. “We are working without pay, and our families are suffering as a result. The authorities should be aware of this, “they said.
They said that they had their expectations from the new budget, but there was nothing for them in it. “We hope that the central government, LG administration with the Health and Family Welfare Department will look into the situation and address our concerns,” they added.
They allege that they have taken out bank loans and are unable to repay them, and that salary delays have put them in a tough situation. “We are unable to pay our children’s regular school and college expenses,” they explained.
