JAMMU, June 5: On 22nd consecutive day of the district wise protest dharnas by Female Multipurpose Health Workers for release of their pending salaries, a strong protest was held here today at Madam Shashi Bala Memorial Park, under the leadership of Sushil Sudan, president Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation.
Despite the scorching heat, agitating FMPHWs continued their protest dharna by wearing black scarf. They used steel plates and spoons to make noise as a symbol for awakening the State Government from deep slumber over their issue.

Sushil Sudan, President JKMEF, while addressing the protesting employees, said that the government which makes tall claims of successfully implementing Beti Bachao Beti Padao scheme in J&K, was not releasing salary of FMPHWs for the last 12 months and even more. He asked the Government to come up with the concrete solutions to their problem otherwise the employees of Health Department will be left with no choice except to observe complete shutdown of Health services from June 8 as announced earlier.
Pertinent to mention that FMPHWs have been protesting at all district head quarters / Chief Medical Officer’s complex throughout the province for release of pending salary and permanent solution of 2211-Head.
Neelam Kumari, general secretary of FMPHW Welfare Association, also addressed the gathering and condemned the Government’s apathy and ignorance to genuine demands of FMPHWs working under Head-2211 who have been contributing to the department in various capacities and rendering innumerable essential services but are without salary for over 12 months.
Others who addressed the protest dharna, included Vinod Sharma, secretary general JKMEF, Parfullat Singh, Bharat Bhushan,, Jaswinder Singh, Rekha Rani, Soma Devi, Kavita, Meena Devi, Savita, Promila, Mamta and Dalip Kumar.
