They alleged that the Municipal authorities have been repeatedly informed about the potential consequences, but their concerns have been ignored as usual.
The main issue, according to the locals, is the poor maintenance of the nallahs, which remain choked due to the accumulation of solid waste.
Divyansh Sharma, a local resident, said the nallahs are not cleaned regularly by the Municipal Corporation.
“As a result, rainwater enters lanes, drains, and even homes, creating major problems for the residents,” he said.
Another resident, Komal Prabhakar, said that water levels rise suddenly during the rainy season, submerging vehicles and damaging electrical appliances like motors, wires, and fans, forcing people to suffer losses worth lakhs.
To protect themselves, Prabhakar said, many residents have even raised boundary walls outside their homes by 2 to 2.5 feet, but even that does not help when the water level in the nallahs rises significantly during the rainy season.
She demanded proper funds for de-silting the nallahs and effective planning to prevent such incidents in the future.
