Five India Reserve battalions to be raised in JK

SRINAGAR: A total of five India Reserve Battalions will be raised in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the Rs 80 thousand crore of package announced today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The India Reserve Battalions will create 4,000 jobs for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” said a press statement, giving breakup of the package.
An amount of Rs 5263 crore has been allotted for the security and welfare of the displaced people. This includes amounts towards jobs for Kashmiri migrants, rehabilitation of families from Chamb and PoK and construction of houses.
A sum of Rs 7,854 crore has been kept for flood relief, reconstruction and flood management. This includes monetary help to people for reconstruction of damaged houses and for infrastructure; restoration of livelihood for traders and small businessmen; a plan for comprehensive flood management of the river Jhelum and its tributaries; and Jhelum-Tawi flood reconstruction project.
