Five gamblers held from lodge, Rs 35000 stake money seized

UDHAMPUR, Feb 8: Udhampur Police arrested five gamblers who were gambling while playing cards in a lodge at Lal Chowk, Gole Market Udhampur.
Based on reliable input regarding some anti-social activity at Udhampur, the Police party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghubir Singh and assisted by PSI Akhilesh Khajuria, raided the lodge and arrested the alleged gamblers red handed.
The arrested accused were identified as Chuni Lal of Jib Udhampur, Rahul Singh of Dhandal Ramnagar, Vikram Singh of Khotapur Panipat Haryana, Rajesh Thapa of Bharoli Kalan Pathankot and Amit Kumar of village Garnai Udhampur.
Police team seized playing cards along with betting money of Rs 35000 from the spot and also arrested manager of the lodge, identified as Om Parkash of Lower Meer Udhampur.
In this connection, a case under Gambling Act has been registered in PS Udhampur against the accused persons and further investigation of the case is going on.
