Five drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw, heroin, cannabis

JAMMU, Dec 9: Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu Bus Stand, Narwal and Satwari Police arrested five drug peddlers alongwith poppy straw, heroin and cannabis.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli laid a naka and intercepted a Jalandhar bound truck bearing registration number PB08ES-0794.
During checking, police team recovered 19.800 kilograms poppy straw from the truck and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons were identified as Manjeet Singh, son of Jasveer Singh and Karamveer Singh, son of Jaswant Singh, both residents of Haripur Tehsil Adampur District Jalandhar Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 186/2021 under Section 8/15/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Devinder Singh made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Bus Stand Jammu led by SHO Inspector Deepankar Singh and assisted by ASI Rashpal Singh under the supervision of SDPO City Sharad Kalu and SP City Mohita Sharma laid a naka and apprehended a auto rickshaw driver along with 7.40 grams heroin.
The arrested person was identified as Gurjeet singh alias Manga, son of Sarwan Singh of Ajeet Nagar Upper Gadigarh District Jammu.
During preliminary questioning, the apprehended person disclosed that he deals in selling and purchasing heroin. The accused person was a habitual drug peddler and tried to get the local youth involved in drugs and with the help of his auto rickshaw, he was also supplying drugs among the youth.
A case under FIR Number 79/2021 under Section 8/21/22/ NDPS has been registered at Police Station Bus Stand and investigation started.
In another similar case, a team from Police Post Narwal led by SI Achal Rana under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania and SDPO East Sajad Sarwar apprehended a drug peddler along with 8 grams heroin.
The accused was identified as Neeraj Kumar, son of late Sudesh Kumar of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, District Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Similarly, a team from Police Station Satwari led by SHO Inspector Deepak Jasrotia and assisted by PSI Tejinder Singh under the supervision of SDPO South PK Mengi apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 75 grams cannais from his possession.
The arrested person was identified as Amit Kumar, son of Narotam Sharma, a resident of Lower Gadigarh District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 277/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started.
