Srinagar, Feb 27: Five bandsaw units which were operating illegally have been sealed by Forest Department in Hakbara area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir.
An official said during checking at least five units were sealed on spot which were found operating in violation of rules. “The timber issued to beneficiaries from A and B zone depots were also found in the premises of these units in violation of rules which was seized on spot,” he said.
The official said there are many such units in Bandipora district which are operating illegally and are crushing timber in blatant violation of rules thereby furthering damage to forests
The five units sealed by the Forest Department belong to Ghulam Rasool Dar, Farooq Ahmad Mir, Ghulam Nabi Karnai, Mohammed Subhan Dar, Abdul Rehman Dar, the official added.
