JAMMU, Oct 2: Intensifying its drive against the sale of illicit liquor in the district, Samba Police during the surprise checking at various places in the district has arrested five persons and recovered illicit liquor in huge quantity from their possession.
A police team of Police Station, Bari Brahmana headed by Inspector, Ravinder Singh Rakwal, SHO Bari Brahmana in coordination with District Special Branch (DSB) officials & under the supervision of Sunil Kumar Kesar, SDPO, Bari Brahmana, recovered 49 bottles of JK Desi Whisky of 180 ml each and one bottle of Grand Whisky of 180ml from the possession of a youth near Railway Station Bari Brahmana today.
He has been identified as Deepak Kumar, son of, Janak Raj of Pathankot, Punjab at present Dollian, Bari Brahmana.
District Police Samba also arrested two persons and recovered 115 bottles of illicit liquors in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Ghagwal late last night.
Police teams headed by SI, Bansi Lal, SHO Ghagwal and Incharge Police Post, Rajpura SI, Karnail Singh in coordination with District Special Branch Officials arrested two persons and recovered 115 bottles of illicit liquor from their possessions. The accused were identified as Surinder Singh, Son of Ramesh Singh of Chhan Kana, Ghagwal.
Samba police in another operation also recovered 50 bottles of JK Desi Whisky of 180 ml each, 12 bottles of 250ml and three bottles of 750 each. The accused arrested by team of Police Station Ghagwal has been identified as Raman Singh, Son of Krishan Singh of Sanoora, Ghagwal.
Samba Police during patrolling in the Main Bazar Samba intercepted one person and recovered 51 bottles of illicit liquor of 180 ml each from his possession.
He has been identified as Vijay Kumar, Son of Babu Ram of Sagal, Samba.
The operation was carried by a police team headed by Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO, Samba. Both the operations were carried under supervision of DY SP Headquarters, Deepak Digra and directives of Dr SSP Samba Dr, Koshal Sharma.
