Five arrested for manhandling former IGP over land dispute

JAMMU, June 11: Five persons were arrested today by Domana police for manhandling former IG of J&K Police, Dr Kamal Saini following a land dispute.
“A clash triggered this afternoon between former IG of J&K Police and some of his relatives at village Chak Dai (Bhadrore), Sarora in Akalpur area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Domana,” SP Rural, Suram Singh said.
He said the clash erupted after the relatives were trying to make a ‘kutcha’ road to their fields through a piece of land owned by the former police officer. “As the former IGP followed by his nephew, one sister-in-law Leela Devi and two Special Police Officers (SPOs) reached the spot and tried to stop the work, the other party attacked him and his fellowmen,” the SP said.
The officer said that in the attack, Leela Devi received injuries and was rushed to Government Hospital, Marh from where she was referred to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment. He said that a case FIR No 248 under Sections 447, 382, 354, 147 and 333 RPC has been registered in this connection at police station Domana and five persons have been arrested while further investigation is underway.
“Those arrested include Pritam Singh Saini, Sham Sunder, Darshan Singh, Ashok Singh and Devraj Singh, all sons of Ram Krishan, resident of Chak Dai, Bhadrore,” he further added.
