JAMMU, Sept 13: A delegation of job aspirants in J&K Fire and Emergency Services led by Nisar Ahmad Nengroo met AAP Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh at his residence in New Delhi today and sought his intervention. In the meeting, Muktesh Yogi AAP youth leader from J&K was also present.
The delegates pleaded for release of the Committee report which was set up by LG Manoj Sinha nine months back in relation to investigation of the matter. The aspirants have been staging protests continuously and demanding for justice in recruitment process.
As per the statement, delegation said, “Thousands of aspirants had applied for 870 posts of firemen and firemen drivers following a 2013 advertisement. It said 14,000 were shortlisted after a physical standard test followed by a written examination by the Recruitment Board.
However, interviews could not be held in 2014 due to floods and the recruitment process was cancelled in 2017 on the directions of then Chief Minister. The candidates approached the High Court which directed the Government to hold the recruitment process afresh. In 2018, a physical test of 14,000 aspirants was conducted and 7,000 of them passed and appeared for the written examination. It was again cancelled on court directions.”
“It is very unfortunate that even after nine months of distress and continuous struggle, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has not made public the report of the three-member panel headed by the Additional Chief Secretary. The Committee was formed in December last year. We demand that the report be made public. We have been deliberately pushed out of the selection list. We want the culprits to be punished and the recruitment list to be scrapped,” they added.
A memorandum of demands was submitted to MP seeking his intervention in the matter.
After hearing the issue, Sanjay Singh said that party has been highlighting the issue and will continue to do so. He will take up the matter seriously for redressal of the genuine demand.
