SAMBA, Oct 11: The inmates of the vehicle had a narrow escape today after a local gypsy JK02Q-3978 caught fire on the Basantar bridge near here. Aju Kumar, a resident of Kotli Mandi Samba, who was on way from his residence for a function in his gypsy and after reaching near Basanter bridge the vehicle suddenly caught fire.
The people however rescued the inmates. Then both police personnel and people tried to extinguish the fire, but the fire was not completely controlled. Later the fire brigade reached the spot and the fire was controlled.
The bridge was closed for one-way vehicular movement due to which there was a jam on the Jammu -Pathankot National Highway for a short time which was later cleared by police.
