A showroom in which a fire broke out on Wednesday morning. -Excelsior/RakeshJAMMU, Mar 4: A major fire broke out today into an electronics showroom ‘Raja Electronics’ near Jammu Airport in Satwari area.
According to the reports, the fire was noticed today at about 9:45 AM by the proprietor of the showroom, Harpyas Singh when he opened the shutter of the showroom. He immediately informed the police and Department of Fire Services.
However, till the firemen reached the spot, the proprietor along with his employees had controlled about 70 % fire by using fire extinguishers. The fire was completely controlled within 60-80 minutes. Though the majority of the electronic appliances were evacuated safely from the showroom, all main servers, some appliances and infrastructure worth over Rs 25 lakh gutted in the fire.
As per the preliminary investigation of the police, it came to fore that the fire erupted in the showroom due to release of 650 Volt current in single phase as the main power supply cable of the showroom was completely burnt in the fire.
Proprietor of the showroom, while expressing anguish over the fire, accused the Power Development Department for the incident. He said this is not 1st time when it happened. Every one or other day, we have to face such a high voltage which probably happens as a high tension wire is passing over the low tension wire in the area.
Meanwhile, Satwari police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation into the fire incident.
