Notice issued to GM, MD

KISHTWAR, Sept 10: Kishtwar Police has registered FIR against National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) for its failure to properly maintain landslide prone Kuligarh spot on Batote-Kishtwar-Sinthantop Highway, which led to tragic accident on August 25 claiming lives of seven Machail Mata pilgrims.
“Kuligarh area near Drabshalla is a landslide zone but it was not properly maintained as such it is clear cut negligence of NHIDCL, which is entrusted with the task of repair and maintenance of entire road”, SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Gupta said, adding “the incident in question has occurred due to negligence and carelessness of NHIDCL as such FIR under Sections 336/304 RPC has been registered against company and SRM Contractors”.
He said that notice under Section 160 CrPC has been issued to Managing Director SRM Contractors Private Limited and General Manager (P) NHIDCL Branch Office Jammu with the direction to cooperate with the investigating officer.
It is pertinent to mention here that NHIDCL is responsible for execution of maintenance and other allied works approved by the Public Works Department of State Government on Batote Kishtwar Sinthantop Section of NH-244.
Though the contractor for NHIDCL has spent huge money on the repair and maintenance of Kuligarh slide but the ground situation as of now is the same as was in 2016.
