JAMMU, July 11: The police has registered an FIR against Army for resisting `illegal construction’ and allegedly causing some damage to the under construction building, just closer to Advance Landing Ground (ALG/Army airfield) in Rajouri town.
Official sources said that as per Defence Act, there is restriction on the construction of any structure within 100 yards of the Defence installations. A retired engineer was raising triple storey building near Army airfield at Rajouri which was objected by the Army authorities. About five days ago some Army personnel went to the site, restricted the construction terming it illegal and also allegedly caused some damage to structure. The family through court lodged an FIR with the Rajouri Police against Army. The house owner claimed that many structures have come up near ALG and only he was being targeted.
Addl DC Rajouri when contacted said that with the intervention of District Magistrate the matter almost stand resolved. He said the DM had called Army officers and the house owner. He has reportedly agreed to withdraw the FIR. The ADC said that there is restriction on any type of construction near vital Defence installations. But this party has claimed that he had map and construction plan approved by the Rajouri Municipal Committee. That aspect is also being examined by the DM, he added.
