FIR against 5 RDD employees for Rs 2 cr fraud

POONCH, Dec 12: Police have registered an FIR against five employees of the Rural Development Department (RDD) for misappropriation of funds worth over Rs 2.08 crore in Mendhar.
Official sources said that on the public complaints, Deputy Commissioner Poonch directed the Additional DC to hold inquiry into the alleged fraud committed by some RDD officials in Balakote block of Mendhar Sub Division.
The inquiry committee submitted the report to DC and detected Rs 2.08 crore fraud/ misappropriation of public funds in Kargra Panchyat and some other areas within the block.
On the directions of the DC, an FIR No. 164 has been registerd at Mendhar Police Station against five accused officials of the Balakote Rural Development block.
They are Basharat Hussain-Panchayat Secretary, Khursheed Ahmed -MPW, Rizwan Ahmed Mir -Gram Rozgar Sevak, Mohd Azad-Technical Assistant and Wahid Khan-NYK.
Sources said involvement of some seniors can not be sources ruled out. Further investigation was in progress, they said.
