Finance Deptt order a betrayal with package employees: Bakaya

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 23: Vijay Bakaya, general secretary Apni Party and former MLC has expressed shock at the perversity of the recent order issued by the Finance Department regarding PM package employees.
He reminded the Government that this package was devised to provide employment to educated migrant youth in the Valley and posts of teachers Junior Engineers , Supervisors, Computer Operators etc were created by GOI.
Recruitment started in 2009 and so far around 5000 migrant youth have provided jobs, he added.
Bakaya said that these employees have to be treated as regular employees ànd not as supernumerary ones because they have been recruited by due process by the SSRB .
The advertisement did not mention that the applicants would be working against posts which could cease to exist at any time.
Bakaya urged the Government to withdraw the order immediately and initiate the process of making these employees permanent and eligible for all post retirement benefits like all other employees
They are working efficiently and with dedication. They have sent their children to school. Government is building six thousand flats for them at six locations in the Valley.
But it is very disturbing that now after 17 years of the Package, the employees are being told they are working against temporary posts and cannot be made permanent.
There can be no more alarming example of chicanery than putting the future of 6000 youth in uncertainty and making a mockery of the Return and Rehabilitation Package.
