KISHTWAR, May 4: Expressing concern over the shortage of doctors and para medical staff in district Hospital Kishtwar, the residents of the area have demanded immediate filling up of vacant posts in the District Hospital, Kishtwar which has a huge rush of patients daily and the present staff can’t coop up with the same.
In a statement by Shamsher Singh Bandhari a socio political leader of the area, it was said that in the prevailing time when the situation is alarming due to fast spurt in COVID cases, there is immediate need of filling up of the vacant posts in the hospital and also providing all basic infrastructure there.
Bhandari said the posts of Orthopedic Surgeon, dermatologist, pathologist, one Pediatric consultant, one Dental surgeon, 13 posts of medical officers and 44 posts of para medicos are lying vacant in hospital for a long time.
He said despite making many requests to the concerned authorities no steps were taken to fill up these posts with the result the patients coming from far flung areas for treatment in the Hospital are facing hardships and the staff starved hospital can’t cater to the rush.
Bhandari made an appeal to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha urging him to look into this burning issue and issue directives to concerned authorities for filling up of vacant posts in the hospital immediately.
Bhandari however expressed satisfaction over the steps being taken by LG for providing special incentives to COVID warriors of Health and Medical Education Department and decision to appoint non domiciles on gazette level faculty posts in GMCs of the UT. He said this decision will go a long way in meeting the shortage of doctors in the UT.
