JAMMU, May 4: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has expressed concern over the vacant posts of Vice Chancellors (VCs) in Central University of Jammu (CUJ) and Central University of Kashmir (CUK) for more than a year.
In a letter written to the President of India, ABVP leaders mentioned about the urgency and need of a full-time VC and demanded some necessary action in this regard.
“The post of VC is of great importance for the development and smooth functioning of a University and to take the University to new heights,” ABVP letter stated adding that ABVP believes that appointment of new VC at CUJ and CUK will boost long pending developmental works and shall impart a new lease of life to these Central Universities.
ABVP J&K Secretary, Mukesh Manhas said, no permanent VC has been appointed in both the institutions even after one year.
He further said that not only the students are suffering but many developmental works are also stalled because of the vacant top posts.
Manhas said: “We strongly feel that a University of such prominence needs a full time VC to steer and lead the varsity into right direction.”
