Fighter jets for Indian Air Force

Giving practical shape to modernisation of and equipping India Air Force with latest weaponry , one more step has been taken in that direction by deciding to procure around 200 aircraft to replace the aging fleet and augmenting its aerial inventory . It may be recalled that the IAF presently has Sukhoi 30 MKIs, Mirage 2000s, Mig 29s and ageing Jaguars. LCA TejasMark 1 A aircraft, indigenously manufactured at HAL is the one with latest technology and 83 of such fighter jets are decided to be procured. Another 110 aircraft too are to be acquired by the IAF.
To make things run fast , the annual production of such combat aircraft was going to be increased from 8 at present to 16 being advanced fighters to meet the needs of the IAF. Contracts and other formalities were going to be completed very soon as per reliable reports.
