JAMMU, July 3: Freedom Fighters Memorial Association (FFMA) J&K UT on Friday paid tributes to Brigadier Mohammad Usman, a hero of 1947 Indo- Pak war, on his martyrdom day at a function held at Dogra Shaurya Sthal, Amphalla here.
Floral tributes were paid to the martyr by the members chanting the National Anthem and candles were lit in his honour. The participants also observed two minutes silence.
On the occasion, Col (Retd) S.S Pathania was the chief guest who spoke about gallantry and heroic contribution of Brig Usman as saviour of Naushera.
Sudhir Jasrotia (Retd IGP), who was the guest of honour, spoke about Brig Usman for his glorious landmark contributions in the Indian forces.
Ved Gandotra, Rajeev Mahajan, Ravinder Mittal, Brij Mehra, Karnail Chand, Prof R.P Sharma, Prof S.S Balwal, Parbhat Kapahi and Pritam Sharma paid tributes to Brig Usman.
The members threw light on the life history of Brig Usman, who-rightly denied the offer of Ali Mohammad Jinah, the then head of Pakistan to become Commander in Chief of the Pakistan Forces.
The FFMA members asked the youth to follow the path and sacrifice and honesty shown by the martyrs and freedom fighters to make a Great Bharat of their dreams.
