Feroz Khan reviews stock, supply position of essentials

KARGIL, Nov 4: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan chaired a meeting to review the stock and supply position of essential commodities, medicare facilities and winter preparedness in the district at LAHDC Conference Hall Kargil here.
Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councilor for Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi, Executive Councilor for Works Aga Syed Abbass Razvi, Executive Councilor for Health Mohammad Ali Chandan, Director FCS&CA Ladakh Anil Koul, Director Tourism Ladakh Mohammad Mumtaz Ali, Director Horticulture Ladakh Tarvinder Singh, Chief Engineer NHPC Kargil Bedi Ram, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Sonam Chosjor and district officers attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on the availability of food grains, kerosene oil, LPG, medicines, timber, firewood, hard coke and other essential commodities for all areas of the district including Zanskar Sub Division.
The officers of FCS&CA informed the meeting that adequate quantity of food grains including rice and wheat has already been stocked in the district and there are no issues on this front. It was further informed that around 80% of required essential commodities have been stocked by the Retailers in Kargil town and other areas.
The CEC instructed the officers to ensure the stocking of the remaining quota of essential commodities on fast track basis and fixed November 20 deadline to complete the process.
The meeting was further informed that sufficient quantity of LPG, diesel and kerosene has been stocked in all areas including the snow bound areas of Zanskar, Drass, Tai Suru etc besides 100% stocking of medicines has also been done for District Hospital Kargil and other health institutions in the district.
With regard to the availability of other essentials, the meeting was informed that seeds, fertilizers, feed and fodder have also been stocked in full as per requirements for the ensuing winter season.
While reviewing the status of provision of heating facilities at District Hospital Kargil and other health centers, the CEC instructed the officers of Mechanical Division to complete the necessary requirements for provision of central heating facilities at CHC Zanskar by November 15. He also asked the Mechanical Division to keep its men and machinery in full readiness for carrying out snow clearance works on the Kargil-Srinagar and Kargil-Zanskar roads.
The CEC asked officers of Vijayak to effectively coordinate with the Beacon authorities as well as Mechanical Division Kargil in making all out efforts for keeping the Zojila Pass open for vehicular traffic in case of untimely snowfall.
Addressing the meeting, the CEC asked the officers concerned to work with utmost dedication and commitment to ensure the provision of satisfactory facilities to the people so that they do not face any inconvenience during the winter season.
