JAMMU, Oct 14: The Female Multi Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) under the aegis of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMF) held a day long protest in front of Directorate of Health Services here today demanding immediate release of their salaries of last over 10 months.
The protest was led by Sushil Sudan president of the Association. The protestors raising slogans against the callousness of the Government towards the female multipurpose workers demanded immediate release of funds under A/C Head 2211 Family Welfare.
The leaders of the Association, while addressing the protestors said they have urged the Finance Minister number of times settlement of issue which is pending for the last so many months once for all.
Sushil Sudan, while addressing said that FMPHWs are facing acute hardships as they have not been paid salary for last 10 to 14 months and demanded that the issue be settled once for all. He decried Government’s callousness towards these hapless employees saying it was reported that funds for one or two months have been released but the same was not credited to the bank account as cash is not available in the treasuries.
He urged the authorities to awake from deep slumber and come to the rescue of these hapless employees who are without salaries for over last 10 months.
He said nothing has been done to settle the issue by the authorities except the assurances. He also demanded grade of multipurpose workers be upgraded. He alleged that due to non payment of salaries for such a long time they are unable to meet the daily expenses of their families.
Meanwhile the technical staff of SHTO Nagrota led by Surinder Pal Singh, its president who are also without salaries for last six months joined the demonstration.
The protestors warned that in case a permanent solution was not found to their problem by November 10 they will launch a indefinite agitation from November 11.
Mahima Devi, president district Udhampur of the Association , Nancy Bhan, Urmil, Neelam Kumari, Kamla Devi and many other leaders of the Association addressed the protestors.
