JAMMU, Oct 13: The protest dharna of Jammu Kashmir Female Multipurpose Health Workers in support of their demands entered 48th day, today.
Led by Sushil Sudan, president, JKMEF, and Neelam Kumari, president, FMPHWs Welfare Association, the Female Multipurpose Health Workers staged protest in office complex of Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Jammu.
They raised slogans against Government for not fulfilling their long pending demands including permanent solution of salary head 2211, delinking the CSS salary from the funding sources (Corpus-delinking), fixation of job functions of FMPHWs at par with other working categories of Health Sector, up gradation of the post of FMPHW on the analogy of Pharmacist, Lab Tech X-Ray Tech, Dental Tech and Ophth Tech.
They also demanded creation of post of LHVs in new PHCs, publication of seniority list of FMPHWs in the official website of the Health Department for bringing transparency in promotions, 50% quota to be allotted in favour of trained LHVs at par with MMPHSs promoted as Health Educators and amendment of SRO 20 dated 20-04-1992 which is pending in the administrative department for last 27 years.
Addressing the protesting workers, Sushil Sudan appealed all the medical employees to observe strike in all the health institutions of the Jammu province in first half of the day on October 17 to create pressure on the authorities. He also asked them to get ready to proceed towards Kashmir for Secretariat gherao on October 24. Sudan also urged the employees to post postcards to PM Narendra Modi on October 15 apprising them of the functioning of the State Health sector.
Sudan appealed Governor SP Malik to intervene into the matter and resolve their demands before October 24.
