LEH, Feb 16: As a part of 42-day capacity building short training course under Hunar-Se-Rozgar for youths of Ladakh, a workshop on ‘food production’ was organized today here at Food Craft Institute, Takskithang.
The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh, Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, who was chief guest on the occasion, while addressing said that it is always a challenging task to start a new institution at the initial stage but the dedication and endeavor of the faculty members of Food Craft Institute Leh headed by its Principal, Dr Zahida Bano have achieved remarkable result in very short period despite many constraints.
Stressing upon the trainee students to take the short training course with utmost dedication, Dr Dawa said that tourism industry in Ladkah has immense potential to provide dignified jobs to the large number of unemployed youths and urged upon them to engage themselves professionally in tourism industry.
Extending full support from Council for further development of FCI, Leh, Dr Dawa suggested FCI Leh to include Ladakhi food making in their kitchen and also stressed for making food festivals mandatory in the tourist calendar of Leh.
Earlier, Assistant Professor of FCI, Leh Gagandeep said that under the programme of the Union Ministry of Tourism, 60 students are getting 42-day capacity building in the 7th batch of Hunar-Se -Rozgar and till date about 145 students have completed this course.
A colorful cultural progarmme was also presented by the students.
Others present on the occasion were Executive Councilor for Tourism, Tsering Sandup, Executive Councilor for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Mumtaz Hussain, Councilor, Upper -Leh, Gay Lobzang Nyantak, Councilor Temisgam, Tsernig Murup, Councilor Phyang, Punchok Dorjey, Councilor Igoo, Tsering Paldan, Councilor Tangtse, Tashi Namgial, Councilor Chushul, Konchok Stanzin and Councilor Khaltsi, Lobzang Sherap.
