FC Revenue reviews capacity building measures

JAMMU, Mar 11: Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Dr. Arun Kumar today reviewed the capacity building measures of the departmental officers put in place under Disaster Management Programme.
The Financial Commissioner exhorted upon the officers to ensure that the guidelines of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) be adhered to in letter and spirit. He enjoined upon them that necessary capacity building measures be taken to face any disaster or eventuality for which sufficient funds have been provided in 13th Financial Plan.
Mr. Kumar directed the concerned officers to expedite purchase of cranes, cutters, snow cutters, JCBs, hook lane, tents and other rescue equipment besides keeping emergency medicines available to meet the requirements in case of any eventuality. He enjoined upon the officers to keep close coordination with each other so that the efforts made prove fruitful.
It was decided in the meeting that the Deputy Commissioners of each district be approached to ensure that the new infrastructure in the Government as well as in Private Sector comes up in accordance with the recommendations made by the NDMA besides organizing workshops and adopt other means to communicate the NDMA guidelines to engineers and ensure appropriate training to mason and other skilled work force being engaged in the construction work activities.
The meeting was informed that 2 Early Warning Systems one each at Jammu and Srinagar have been installed while as Directorate of SDRF Civil Defense is contemplating to install these system in every district of the State.
The meeting also discussed various measures including Committee Based Disaster Management (CBDM), Capacity Building of State Disaster Response Force, Assistance to District Emergency Operation Centers, Training and Seminars on Biological Disaster Managements of epidemic, Health Management in Flood, Training Programme in Trauma, etc.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP, SDRF, D.R. Dolly, Director General Fire and Emergency Services, Dr. G. A. Bhat, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. B. S Pathania, Medical Superintendent GMC, Jammu, Dr. R. Rattan Pal, Joint Director Information Jammu, Smita Sethi, Chief Engineer R&B, A. H. Sheikh, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sushil Aima and other senior officers attended the meeting.
