FAWU stages protest demanding timely payment of wages

JAMMU, Sept 1: Food and Allied Workers’ Union (FAWU) today staged a one-day protest demonstration in front of the office of Assistant Director (Trade and Store) CAPD, here at Nehru Market, Ware House against the delay in payment of their monthly wages.
A large number of CAPD workers today assembled in front of the office of Assistant Director, (Trade and Store) CAPD and staged peaceful sit-in protest demonstration to express anguish over the failure of the department in fulfilling its commitments made with the workers.
Addressing the protesting workers, Union president, Bishan Dass said the workers never get their wages by the schedule date, which had been fixed as 10th of every month by Director, CAPD, Jammu himself. He said the delay in payment of wages has adversely affected the normal life of the workers and aggravated their mental agony.
He said due to delayed payment of wages, the poor workers are unable to pay timely school fees of their children, LIC premium besides deposition of monthly contributions in ESI and provident fund and in case of any untoward incident the CAPD management will be held responsible.
Dass said that Union has decided to stuck the work until the demands of the workers are not met without further loss of time.
