MENDHAR, Aug 24: A villager and his two minor children were set on fire by sprinkling petrol by some people when they were sleeping at their residence at Uchhad in Mendhar area of district Poonch last night.
Giving details, a police spokesman said that incident took place last mid night when one Nazakat Hussain, son of Mohd Bashir of village Uchhad was sleeping in his house in the Veranda. His two minor children Touseef (4) and Tehmeem (5) were also sleeping in another nearby cot .
Some unknown assailants sprinkled petrol on their blanket and then set them on fire. Nazakat sustained 70 % burn injuries while his sons nearly 50 % and they were rushed to Mendhar hospital mid night by the other family members and neighbours. Later, all the three were referred to GMC&Hospital Jammu.
SDPO Mendhar, Shahid Nahim said that a case under FIR No. 132/2016 has been registered against the accused persons. The victim family has given clue about the accused persons. They will be arrested soon. This family had old rivalry with another local family. The police was investigating, he added.
