This is regarding the article “Banning big fat weddings”. published in DE, 2nd April 2017 . I would like to mention that the amendment issued by J&K State Government, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs vide order no 61-FCS&CA of 2017 dated 27/03/2017 (refer DE, March 31, 2017) appears to has not been taken in to account while writing above mentioned article. It is submitted for the information of Public in general and those who have booked Banquets/Sweets vendors/Dry fruit vendors in advance for the ensuing marriage functions of their sons/ daughters in particular that In partial modification to Government order No. 39-FCSCA of 2017 dated 20-02-2017 it has been ordered now as under:-
*That to keep up the religious customs/ rituals by some communities, Dry fruits packets/ Sweet packets can be sent with invitation cards by any person to relatives, friends, invitees etc, but the maximum value of which shall in no case exceed Rs 400-per packet/Dabba
*That the Amplifiers/Loud speakers/ Fire crackers in any Social/ Government/ private function can be used as per the guide lines of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India issued in SLP© No 2/851/2003.
*That in case of joint function/Barat of son/ daughter the maximum number of guests should not exceed 600. I would like to add further that the above mentioned modifications have been taken in to account while publishing the guidelines of Department of Food, Civil Supplies Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology along with the message of the Minister for Food and Civil supplies in DE March 30, 2017 for the information of the general public.
